Cultural Relativism
In Egypt, "Conservative commentators decried the demise of the traditional Egyptian family" because a young, unmarried woman decided not to have an abortion. When she went to court to get an order declaring the child's paternity, it ignited a national scandal. I just thought it was a neat twist to have family values on the side of having abortions, as opposed to the system here. Besides that, the whole situation is pretty tragic, especially the first paragraph which describes the standard response to pregnancy out of wedlock as abortion, surgery to "refurbish virginity" by restoring the hymen, and marriage to the first suitor.
