Judge Orth demonstrates dry humor

A funny excerpt from a serious opinion: Pope moved that we strike from the State's brief and appendix a selection from the Year Book of 1484 written in Medieval Laten and references thereto. The State provided no translation and conceded a total lack of knowledge of what it meant. The motion is granted. Pope v. State, 306 A.2d 1054 (Md. 1979).

That's all I know about the situation. Feel free to speculate about why Maryland would include a passage in their brief which they didn't know the meaning of, or if they know the meaning why they conceded "a total lack of knowledge."
